High Horses’ volunteers have a significant and immediate impact on the quality of the service that we provide for our clients.
Volunteers contribute greatly to our mission by:
- grooming and tacking up horses
- leading horses in lessons or walking alongside participants in the ring and on the nature trails
- lending moral support, ensuing safety and helping participants achieve their goals
- interacting with participants through encouraging conversation and assisting them with specific instructions from our instructors
Our goal is to enrich the lives of our volunteers and add to the quality of the service we provide. In the words of one of our volunteers, “It is one endeavor where you know you are making a difference; yet it is not clear whose life is more positively impacted, the rider’s or my own.”
Working in the ring with constant hands-on contact with our horses and their riders requires specific skills. Volunteers in the ring must be at least 14- years-old and are screened and trained under the guidelines of Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH Int’l).
We sponsor several volunteer training sessions throughout the year. All volunteers must fill out the Volunteer Application Form. and read our Volunteer Manual for in-depth descriptions of volunteer opportunities at High Horses.
We have opportunities to help even if you prefer not to work in the ring or around our horses. Please contact us to learn about other ways you can help us.Volunteer Application
