What year did you begin your relationship at High Horses? I started volunteering at High Horses around the beginning of 2023, and shortly after was welcomed onto the staff.
How did you become involved with High Horses? I attended a few High Horses events in the last couple of years and then started volunteering in the barn and arena.
What is your educational background? Bachelor’s in Community Health Education from UVM and Master’s in Physical Therapy from UW-Madison
What are your current or previous career highlights? Successful and happy PT for 20+ years. Wilderness backpack trip leader and ropes course instructor in my prior life.
What impact do you see with equine-assisted services? Amazing connections between horses and people (staff and clients) - subtle and profound
Did you grow up around horses? Do you currently have horses? We had a pony for a few years when I was a kid. My mother grew up with horses and liked the idea of us having horses. Currently, we have 3 elderly horses.
Where did you grow up? I grew up outside of Burlington, VT. After college, I moved around a bit and ended up in Madison, WI, where I went to graduate school. 15 years ago I moved back to VT to move closer to family.
What are some of your favorite non-horse or therapy-related hobbies? Biking and cross-country skiing. I love to travel.
If a horse from High Horses could speak, who are they and what would they say? On my first day, Kora came to our staff meeting in the arena and she came to sniff me out and gave her approval.
