Lisa Kaeser - Board Member
Now retired from government service, Lisa Kaeser, J.D., most recently was the Director of the Office of Legislation and Public Policy at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), National Institutes of Health. She served as liaison between NICHD and its many constituencies, focusing on issues related to women’s and children’s health and the health of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She was a lead author on the implementation plan for the federal Task Force on Research Specific to Pregnant Women and Lactating Women, and the NIH Down Syndrome Research Plan. Ms. Kaeser recently received the President’s Award from the American Academy of Pediatrics. Prior to joining NICHD, Ms. Kaeser worked on women’s health issues at The Alan Guttmacher Institute, and before that on Capitol Hill as a legislative assistant to Rep. Jim Moody (D-WI). She has a law degree from Vermont Law School and completed her undergraduate work from Dartmouth College. In addition to raising two wonderful children with her husband, Bill Schmidt, Ms. Kaeser has been certified as a parent educator, and began volunteering at the Maryland Therapeutic Riding Center (Annapolis, MD) in 2017. She has been volunteering at High Horses since March 2021.
